What is an S7 tracker?
An S7 tracker is a Thatcham approved GPS tracking system with real time location, movement alerts and 24/7 monitoring centre support. It’s the entry category for insurance approved tracking.
Will an S7 meet my insurance requirement?
Many insurers accept S7 tracking, but some policies ask specifically for S5 with Automatic Driver Recognition. Check your policy wording, or send us the requirements and we’ll match the right category.
How is S7 different from S5?
S5 includes everything S7 offers plus Automatic Driver Recognition, which alerts the monitoring centre if your vehicle moves without an authorised driver tag present.
Do S7 trackers need a subscription?
Yes. The monitoring, app access and police liaison run through the manufacturer’s yearly subscription. Costs start from around £98 per year for Global Telemetrics, £119 for Meta Trak and £129.95 for ScorpionTrack.
What happens when my tracker is triggered?
The monitoring centre contacts you straight away to check whether the movement is genuine. If it isn’t, they work directly with the police to track and recover your vehicle.
How long does installation take?
Installation usually takes around 1 to 2 hours, depending on the vehicle and tracker. We test everything with you before we go.
Can I upgrade to an S5 later?
S7 and S5 are separate systems, so upgrading usually means a new installation. If you think you might need S5, tell us when you get in touch and we’ll talk you through the options.
